The brief

A neglected paddock with six old apple trees, to become a meadow that is easy to look after.

What we did

We kept the trees and mowed paths in long curves between them. The rest of the grass is left to grow and cut once a year, in late summer.

Bulbs under the canopy give the spring its start. The garden takes a single afternoon of work a month.
